Challenge
Many of our nation’s wounded veterans hale from from rural, and often low-income backgrounds, there are few rehabilitation services available to them, especially for long-term healing.
Yet these communities often have horses and youth in abundance.
Equine-assisted therapy is one of the most effective ways to work with the traumas to mind and body from war injuries. However the time and resources required are often not available to traditional veteran programs.
Creating the Pilot Program
The Cavalry of Healing™ will create a collaboration between National 4-H Council, E.A.G.A.L.A. and (if possible) the Horse Cavalry Detachment of the 1st Cavalry Unit.
Each organization will provide their mentorship, expertise and suggestions for the creation of a superior curriculum that will develop into a national program suitable for teaching teens (and their horses) to assist licensed EAP professionals work with veterans.
